@ Lychee: Yes, I'm currently in the Philippines and been living here for 5 years now. In about 2 years, I'll be graduating from college and be able to go back to Hawaii (I only came here to study).

To answer your question, yes, Super Junior (and other asian stars) have come to Manila and held concerts. I don't live in Manila, but if there's a concert I want to see, then I see it. I have to take a 10 hour bus ride just to get to Manila, but it's worth it in the end. Usually the concerts are held in the SM Mall of Asia (which is HUGE)! So far, I've seen Super Junior (yes, they were handsome and so HOT in person ), FT Island (the guy who plays Jeremy in 'He's Beautiful' is the lead singer), Wu Chun (Taiwan actor-main guy lead in Hana Kimi Taiwan), David Archuleta, Paramore and I think I'm gonna see Avril Lavigne next month.
Now all I need is to see some Japan hotties and I'm all good to go!

294. ugh mango how LUCKY ARE YOU!! i have NEVER been to ANY concert!! did you take any pics when you saw super junior? anyways, apparently their ad shooting was cut short and cancelled cuz some CRAZY fan ran and pushed siwon and eunhyuk and hugged kyuhyun! and then they chased the bus and the bus was sitting there for like 30 mins to shoot the next scene or whatever and they left back to korea! wow! **sigh** oh well. but you know, i really want to see some japanese artist globalize! i wonder why they don't!

I bet they're just shy, is all. Dammit, if a japanese star came here, I'd take the next bus to Manila just to see them! But it's unlikely cause everyone here is mostly about K-pop and Taiwan shows. Oh well....I can keep dreaming. And I have some pictures of Super Junior performing, but there not very good (I preferred to just watch them as to actually taping or taking pictures of them).

Also, I'm now apart of a scantalation group!!! That means I'm part of a group that helps translate a manga into english. And did you know that translating a manga is hard? You have to translate it to english, then scan the manga, then clean the scans and etc.etc......Anyhoo, I'm a proofreader (I make sure they're using correct ENGLISH and not ENGRISH) and the manga we are doing is Junjou Romantica!!!! A new chapter will be up soon so watch out for it!

Also make absolute sure they translate words like "baka" and "neko" and "desu". I'm watching a subbed anime right now and the subbers left those words untranslated and actually put them in the subs as-is and it's driving me mad. >.<

Uhhh...Cinnamon? I'm only in charge of manga not anime- but yes! I'll do my best that the chapters I make are in perfect english!!!! Also, if you don't know what those words mean, here's the translation:

Baka= stupid
Neko= cat
Desu= there's not really an exact english definition for this. But if you put it into a sentence (ex. Kawaii Desu) that means He's/She's/They're/whatever whatever is cute. Hard to explain but after all the anime/manga I've been through I sorta just understood it. XP Sorry it makes no sense....

Wow...it's times like this that make me realize that I actually know some of the japanese language.

308. Haha, don't worry, I know what they mean, I've been watching subbed anime for years and years now. It's just really annoying to see it in subs and translations, because it completely throws off the flow, and makes assumptions about the watcher/reader. The words have English counterparts, so there's no reason to leave them in.

also desu is actually a verb, it's the verb "to be"! Japanese has different sentence structure.

On the topic, my friend showed me this comic today on the subject when I was complaining to her about it. XD

(she then told me that she'd seen more than one subber (including an official sub, once) use "rub a dub dub, thanks for the grub!" as a translation for "itadakimasu!" and it made her "want to abort the baby jesus." (her words XD))

The correct translation for 'itadakimasu' is 'thank you for the meal'- it's more dignified that way. The translators for those anime should be ashamed of themselves.

310. isn't itadakimasu more like "i'm digging in" sort of thing? and after you eat the meal you say gochisou sama deshita and that is "thank you for the meal" anywho time for some daito spam!!
