Ouran Highschool The Movie DVD/Bluray (released October 10, 2012)

Bought it online and the DVD Special Edition has arrived yesterday!^o^ I immediately watched it!

The nice surprise is that the DVD Special Edition comes with a small-sized KUMA-CHAN! Kyaaaa... ureshiii...!!

The DVD Special Edition contains 2 discs + small photobook + Ouran seals + Kuma-chan the small-sized doll.

1 disc contains the movie that was shown on the theaters on March, plus the Director's Cut version which is 4 mins longer.

The other disc contains:
・Making (72 min)
・Cast Interview (37 min)
・Crank-up Moments (13 min) : each cast's greetings on their respective last days of shooting
・Unseen Footage (4 min) : HILLARIOUS! This one basically shows the cast and director's playful side resulting whole other versions of a few scenes in the movie
・Promo Event (15 min) : the cast visited a girls highschool and provided a Host Club service for a few of the girls, amusing!^^
・Premiere Greetings (15 min)
・Spin-off LISMO Drama (20 min) : the spinoff drama that was shown on AU mobile phone before, pretty funny!
・Theatre Manner CM
・Trailer for Theaters
・Trailers for TV

Onto my comments on the movie.

It was okay... I feel 50-50 about it. Overall, I love the drama more because it stayed faithful to the manga.

The movie was... they practically just squeezed a lot of moments from the manga from various chapters, joined them together and make it into a new story. I'm glad Bisco Hatori is involved in the scriptwriting, or else, I think it would've gotten worse.

Of course, I have quite a few favorite scenes, esp. the TamaHaru scenes. But what I hate the most from this movie, the Michelle plot takes up too much space, that there were very little left for the Hitachiins and Honey-Mori, I really cannot accept that What's worse, after I watched the Director's Cut... those 4 min unseen scenes (wasn't shown on the theatrical version), were mostly Hikaru scenes! What the----???

I watched the theatrical version first, and I was really confused when Hikaru was suddenly throwing tantrums, out of nowhere >_< After I watched the Director's Cut, I finally get it, coz apparently there were about 2 Hikaru scenes that wasn't shown in the theatrical version, which lead to Hikaru's moment sudden rude attitude toward Tamaki.

Just like the drama, I always prefer storylines that focuses on the Host Club members only, like Ep5, ep7, Ep9. Not stories that focus on the guest stars.
So the Michelle plot in this movie really annoyed me. I want more on my Kyoya, the twins and Honey-Mori!!>_<

But of course I enjoyed and LOLed at a few hillarious scenes too. Esp. the scene between Tamaki and his father! OMG... super hillarious! LOLOLOLOL!
And all the juicy TamaHaru scenes, which I will elaborate more in details in the appropriate thread^^
Oh yeah, I love scenes with Haruhi's father too! haha, he had hillarious expression. He may be a transverstite, but he's really a cool dad!

One thing which I'm glad for... the movie didn't include... STILL ALOT of storylines in the last half of the manga. So the possibility for a sequel, be it a 2nd series or a 2nd movie, is still very much open.

The guidebook that has cast interviews, also asked them what if there's a sequel? Which scene would you like to be included in the sequel?
Manpei said, he wants to act out that scene where Kaoru kisses Haruhi.. because that plot really shows Kaoru's true personality.
Nakamura Masaya said he wished to carry out the story where Honey-Mori's little brothers show up.

The 20-min spinoff drama was pretty funny! Quite enjoyed it! It's just one of the baka episode of the Host Club^^

Anyway, here's what's included in the movie from the manga:

Chapter 38-39: Princess Michelle
Chapter 40: Tamaki's Cold and how his father told him it's okay for a father to kiss a son/daughter
Chapter 46-49: Sports Festival (but a totally different competition)
Chapter 57: Haruhi has cold symptoms/gets doki2 in front of Tamaki / Hikaru trying to hold back his short temper / Haruhi reads magazine on love hints

I really hope they're gonna announce the sequel soon! XD

I'm not a fan of the Michelle plot either, but at least they included lots of funny episodes in it. I look forward to watching the movie when it's online, with subs.

At least you have given me encouragement that the movie has some great moments, even though not as many scenes with the host club members.

Any chance you can upload the movie so we can download it or is that a no? Also does the DVD include English Subtitles? I doubt it, but I wanted to ask.

I found one a few hours ago. It's good quality. It has Chinese or Maybe Japanese Subtitles hard coded. Meaning it's part of the video. So now all we need is English Subs.
