Interesting Behind-The-Scenes Facts

Gathering fun facts here!^^

TAMAKI

-Ever since the live-action project started, Hatori Bisco, the manga author, immediately nominated Yamamoto Yusuke to play Tamaki's role. (DOGATCH & +act)

-Tamaki's hairstyle and color contact lenses, were Yusuke's original ideas. He suggested it to the production team, and were accepted. (JUNON)

-Yusuke almost never watch the anime, so his portrayal of Tamaki is not based on the anime. If it's similar, he said it's just a coincidence that his patterns of thinking is the same as Tamaki so he reacts to things the same way. (DOGATCH)


KYOYA

-Daito chose his own glasses, which he thinks suit Kyoya's character. (JUNON)


HIKARU & KAORU

-In the initial audition, when Manpei-Shinpei were asked, "Which one will play which?". Both of them wanted to play Hikaru. But as they read the script, Manpei agreed that he has some resemblance with Kaoru. (JUNON)


-Manpei is basically more like Hikaru in real life, so he needs to build/makeup Kaoru character, unlike Shinpei who can act Hikaru with his natural-self.(JUNON)


-Manpei also used Anime-Kaoru's voice as a reference to create his own LiveAction-Kaoru's speaking tone and voice.(JUNON)


HONEY & MORI

-They were rehearsing the fight scene in Ep10, under the supervision of a real karate and kendo teachers, and it took 3 hours just for the rehearsal itself. (MOVIE GALLERY in Official Website)


OTHERS

-The whole Ouran cast had manner lessons taught by a teacher from the Ogasawara School of Etiquette. They learned greetings, how to drink tea, and gestures. Daito actually used alot of the lessons he learned to act and build Kyoya's character. (JUNON)

-Hatori Bisco nominated Totsugi Shigeyuki to play Ranka, Haruhi's father, and the producer accepted the idea. Bisco is a fan of the actor. (twitter)

Ahhh, how amazing for Yusuke that Bisco, herself, chose him!

I love this thread because I was thinking about making some "fun fact" posts on Tumblr. I'm sure many people would be surprised to find out that the uniforms and Yusuke's cast as Tamaki was Bisco Hatori's idea!

Some more facts:
- It was Bisco Hatori's request for the live action crew to change the uniforms.
- It was also Bisco Hatori's request to change the last scene of the first episode (I'm not sure if she meant the one with the host club helping Haruhi find her wallet or the Ayanokoji scene)
- Nakamura Masaya's wife is a fan of the original series
- Bisco Hatori had never wanted Ouran to become a live action until the crew sent her scripts of the first 4 episodes and convinced her with their enthusiasm.
- Chiba Yudai is the one who always gets bullied by the other actors
- Yusuke has invited everyone on the main cast out for a drink except for Haruna, because he's worried about the paparazzi
- Yusuke and Daito have acted in the same drama every year for 4 years
- The twins practice at home (but everyone should know that already, heh heh)
- Shinpei had read the Ouran manga before, and when he read the twins, he thought that if this manga was ever adapted into a drama, he would definitely want to act as those characters.

These are some fun fact I've just found:

The "Ouran highschool" are actually a pretigious hostipal.
In the film, Hitachiin twins is the youngest in the group, but in real life, the Takagi twins is the oldest among the main cast:
Shin & Man (1985)

Yusuke (1989)
Chiba (1989)
Ryo (1993)
Yusuke and the Takagi twins was starred in the same drama Ninkyo Helper in 2009

Actually, Yusuke was born in 1988.

And to add to the list:
Haruna was born in 1995, which makes her 16 years old and the youngest among the main cast.

I also find it funny how often Yusuke and Shunsuke have starred in the same dorama (it was mentioned before, but I like lists, so I'll do one )

-TBS recommended Kawaguchi Haruna to Bisco, and after she watched her drama "Yankee-kun and Megane-chan", she approved her to be Haruhi.

-Bisco said, "If Yamamoto Yusuke didn't accept Tamaki's role offer, this live-action project might not have started at all"
From the way Bisco tells the story, seem like she has turned down the live action idea, before, at least once. Few years ago, someone mentioned to her that Yusuke might suit Tamaki's role. Bisco checked out "Atashinchi no Danshi" and for the first time ever she thinks, "This actor might be able to play Tamaki" (before, she really can't imagine any real-life person to play Tamaki's character).
When the live-action offer came to her once again, the whole project went forward, right after she and TBS agreed about "Yamamoto Yusuke as Tamaki" issue.

It really looks like the production team respect the original work author so much! Seem like they always ask Bisco's approval for every big step they take.

Reading her twitter, it also sounds like she's largely involved in the movie's scenario writing.

I completely forgot to mention that Maaya Sakamoto, the voice actress of Haruhi in the anime, is the narrator for the live action!

I heard about that too, and at first I had trouble "hearing" her, because she speaks really feminine in the intro and more apathetic and neutral as Haruhi in the anime. But I think it's awesome that she voices in the live action too.
They should have given Miyano Mamoru a small role too

The first one wasn't available in my country ( DAMN YOU YOUTUBE!!! ), but I could watch the other two.

I have to say, I did not expect that the seiyuu of Honey had this high-pitched voice in real life too - that was so awkward and if she would have said more, hella annoying xD But Mamoru and Maaya were awesome!
